Indian PM Narendra Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Jakarta, Indonesia

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. President Prabowo Subianto personally received him at the airport. When PM Modi's aircraft entered Indonesian airspace from Indian airspace, he was escorted by fighter jets of the Indonesian Air Force. This grand welcome reflects the deep friendship and growing strategic importance between the two countries. It augurs well for President Prabowo Subianto and Prime Minister Modi on a personal level. This is Modi's first important visit after Prabowo became the President. A ceremonial guard of honour and a traditional welcome ceremony took place at the airport. The two leaders will soon hold bilateral talks covering issues such as defence, trade, energy, maritime security and regional stability. Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia. It is important in terms of population, economy and geography. India and Indonesia are both major powers in the Indo-Pacific region. Both countries are working on maritime security, free and open Indo-Pacific and multilateral cooperation with China. It is not just the formalisation of the fighter aircraft by PM Modi that has become relevant.
