New Delhi: During the SIR, a panchayat member of the Trinamool Congress was accused of being a Bangladeshi. Now, after the final voter list was released, it has been revealed that the name of the Trinamool panchayat member is not in the final voter list, which has created a political controversy. The Trinamool Congress has attacked the BJP. However, the Block Development Officer (BLO) of that booth said that the Trinamool panchayat member was unable to produce any documents. Jharna Mondal Barman is a Trinamool panchayat member of Barogharia Gram Panchayat in Dhupguri block. The BJP initially spoke against her during the SIR campaign and claimed that she is from Bangladesh. Ratan Barman, the husband of this panchayat member, admitted at the time that she came to this country after marriage and enrolled her name in the voter list in 2011. Then, in 2013, contested the panchayat elections of Jhar as a BJP candidate, but later joined the Trinamool. Allegations were made that the couple was forced to join the Trinamool using the pressure of Bangladeshi citizenship, and in 2023, they were nominated as panchayat members by the Trinamool Congress.
