Congress city president Dr Jaswinder Singh Gogi, while outlining the campaign, said that all the constituents of the alliance would jointly take up programmes for the protection of democracy and voter rights. He demanded review of the deleted names from the electoral rolls and re-addition of eligible voters. Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretariat member Lekhraj said that accountability should be fixed in the matter of deletion of names from the electoral rolls. Communist Party of India district secretary Vikram Singh Pundir said that the October 8 event would be attended by all the alliance partners, including the Congress. State Congress vice-president Sujata Paul said that the right of the voter cannot be compromised. She called upon the people to join the movement to protect democratic rights. Congress spokesperson and India Alliance convenor Shishpal Bisht raised questions about the ECI-Net, the technical system of the Election Commission of India. He demanded transparency and accountability in the electoral process. CPM state committee members Himanshu Bano Chauhan and Hema Bora of the Samajwadi Party were also present at the press conference.
