New Delhi: The military conflict raging in West Asia has cast a dark shadow not only on the battlefield but also on the curriculum of thousands of Indian students. Shocking details have emerged after a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs revealed that an estimated 23,000 Indian students living in the Gulf region were able to take their Class 10 and 12 CBSE final exams due to the unrest. Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, chairman of the Crisis and Reconciliation Committee on the Future, told reporters that serious discussions have been held on the plight of these students. Consultations are underway between the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Education on the matter. For students who have missed their exams, a "Remedial Arrangement" will soon be announced by CBSE so that they do not lose their year. However, it is a matter of relief that nearly 1,000 Indians are still stuck in Iran.
