Indian Sugar Prices Soar Amid Festive Season, Association Blames Factors Other Than Shortage

Sugar prices in the country are skyrocketing before the festive season. Sugar price in the retail market has reached 60-65 rupees per kg or even more. On the other hand, politics over sugar is at its peak. Meanwhile, while the government has said that there is enough sugar in the country, now there is a statement from the Indian Sugar Manufacturers Association, which explains the big reasons behind sugar becoming expensive. Neeraj Shirgaonkar, President of the Indian Sugar Manufacturers Association (ISMA), has said a big thing about the surge in sugar prices in the country. He said that there is no shortage of sugar in India and the existing stock is enough. He added that the concerns of the market will be addressed. Sugar prices have increased by 16 percent and the Chairman ISMA has said that the reason behind the increase in sugar prices is not the weather.
