Indian Umpire Reveals Most Appealing Bowler, Shares Cheeky Stories with Cricketers

Renowned Indian umpire Anil Chaudhary revealed the name of the bowler who he thinks appealed a lot. Chaudhary appeared on a Star Sports show, “Cheeky Singles’, where he picked the bowler who has maximum appeals in a game. Notably, currently the Indian team is Sri Lanka for the two-match Test series kicking off on August 15 at the Galle International Stadium. Ahead of the first game, Chaudhary shared a cheeky detail about a cricketer, who he thinks has the most number of appeals in a game. Picking the same, he named Mohammed Sirja and revealed the conversations they would have regarding his appeals had Anil not given them out. "Siraj, DSP sir. Later, when we would meet, he would say, 'at least give the umpires' call'," Chaudhary said. In the same show Umesh Yadav revealed how players would annoy the umpires who would give wrong decisions. "Normally, when you are playing, and you feel the umpire is doing certain things on purpose, you also do some things on purpose then to irritate the umpire. When you are bowling and these things are happening, even other players will join in and say can you not see? Do you have your glasses? See if there is no fog on it? Are you feeling sleepy? Sometimes even throws are made on purpose,” Yadav revealed. In the same conversation, Chaudhary also went on to reveal his experience of umpiring spinners, including Ravichandran Ashwin. He said that Ashwin would also keep umpires on their toes by asking them multiple questions at the same time. "Ashwin would question a lot. A question on every ball. I had to take a book and sit there. But it was a good thing. He would just end it so he could do it again later,” Anil Chaudhary stated. He also revealed his experience of umpiring players such as Piyush Chawla, Amit Mishra and Yuzvendra Chahal. Furthermore he hilariously disagreed to the fact that Chawla delivered very few no-balls in his career. "Piyush Chawla? Don't tell me. Piyush, Amit Mishra were very difficult bowlers to umpire. In fact, Chahal also - all the leg-spinners. Who told this? Where is Piyush Chawla? Call him!.” Notably, Anil Chaudhary has umpired in 12 Test games, 49 ODIs, 64 T20Is and 131 IPL Games. He pulled curtains on his umpiring career in March last year.
