India's IT Sector Sees Job Demand Surge Amid Economic Growth

After a prolonged slump in the IT services sector, the demand for jobs rose to an 18-month high in September. Senior and mid-level positions accounted for nearly 60 per cent of the total demand. The gross GST collection in August rose to nearly Rs 2 lakh crore. Gross GST revenue stood at Rs 2 lakh crore. Transactions through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) were Rs 29.8 lakh crore in August, close to record levels. A record Rs 29.9 lakh crore were transacted in May-July. Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the mantra of Swadeshi to the countrymen while congratulating them on the country's growth rate of 7.8 per cent despite the global crisis. The PM again appealed to the people not to shop for unnecessary gold. Also, if they are travelling abroad, they should not do so. If they are getting married abroad, they should not do so.
