India's Lok Sabha Passes Draconian Bill Against Paper Leaks Amid Tensions

The Lok Sabha today passed the draconian bill against paper leaks with a voice vote. Now that it has been passed in the Rajya Sabha, it will go to the President for his assent and will become law. While there was a consensus among all the parties on the bill in the Lok Sabha, there was a lot of tension during the discussion. There was a debate till late last night and today there was a huge uproar over the allegation made against Home Minister Amit Shah in the speech of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Yesterday, Priyanka Gandhi described IIT Madras Director Dr. Kamakoti, who was on the task force, as a cow urine expert. BJP's Anurag Thakur counted the degrees of Dr. Kamakoti and also said that even if all the degrees of the Gandhi family are combined, his educational qualification will be less than that of Professor Kamakoti. The biggest uproar was when Priyanka Gandhi accused the new Education Minister Pralhad Joshi of defending the rapists of Bilkis Bano in Gujarat. Pralhad Joshi called it a lie and asked for evidence.
