India's Modi Government Approves Floating Solar Power Scheme

On Friday (July 31, 2026), a meeting of the Union Cabinet and CCA was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In this important meeting, the Modi government took many major decisions and also discussed many important plans. The important cabinet meeting chaired by PM Modi was informed by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting as well as Electronics and Information Technology in the central government. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, while addressing the cabinet briefing after the meeting, said, "In today's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken many big decisions. The biggest of these decisions has been taken on the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana. PM Modi has approved solar power generation using the surface of water bodies under this scheme."
