India's PM Modi Calls for Resource Conservation Amid Middle East Tensions; Rahul Gandhi and Devendra Fadnavis Engage in Political Sparring

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently appealed to the people of India to save gold, petrol, diesel, edible oil and fertilizers and avoid foreign travel amid the ongoing war in the Middle East. This appeal by PM Modi to the public in Hyderabad has now raised the political temperature. Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi himself has opposed this request of PM Modi and said that these are not people's suggestions but evidence of the government's failure. Rahul Gandhi's opposition to PM Modi's speech has now received a response from Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. He retorted that Rahul Gandhi is a'rejected commodity '. Speaking to the media, Devendra Fadnavis said, "Look, Rahul Gandhi is the most rejected commodity in Indian politics -'rejected by all '. He is rejected by the people of every state. It seems to me that this is a rejected commodity by the people, which the people in a democracy accept."
