India's Urban Body Elections: Key Statistics Released

According to the data released by the Commission, the details of the 147 urban bodies in the second phase are as follows: Details No. Total Wards 4,852 Number of Polling Booths 9,758 Total Candidates 18,266 Total Electors 87,60,884 Out of 147 urban bodies included in the second phase, 40 are newly constituted bodies where elections are being held for the first time. The remaining 107 urban bodies recorded a 67.93 percentage of voting during the last general elections. The total number of sensitive polling stations in 309 urban bodies, including both phases, is 723 and critical polling stations is 3,703. Special security arrangements have been made at these centres to ensure peaceful and fair polling.
