Iran Closes Strait of Hormuz Until Further Notice Amid US Interference

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until further orders. They said that this strategic waterway will remain closed until the US stops its interference in the Middle East region. According to the IRGC statement reported by Press TV, this decision was taken "in view of the security situation created by the illegal interference of foreign forces." According to Press TV, the statement said, "The Strait of Hormuz has been closed until further orders and it will remain closed until the US stops its interference in this area. No ships will be allowed to pass through this strait." The IRGC Navy also warned against any further military action against Iran under the pretext of the Strait of Hormuz being closed and said that such actions will be responded to. The statement further said, "If the aggressor creates this development - which he himself has created - as a pretext for an attack on our territory, he will be used as an additional target of the enemy and TV reports."
