Iran Mourns Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: Millions Attend Condolence Meeting Ahead of Funeral

On Friday, a condolence meeting was held for Iran's former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Millions of people are arriving to pay their respects ahead of Saturday's funeral. The gathering is expected to include representatives from 100 countries. Among the notable absentees is Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ali Khamenei and Iran's new Supreme Leader. Mojtaba did not attend his father's funeral. On Friday, the country's political and military leaders gathered to pay their respects. Ali Khamenei was killed in US-Israeli strikes during the Middle East conflict. His body was placed in Tehran's Grand Mosala before the funeral. Foreign dignitaries are also expected to attend Saturday's official funeral ceremony. Ahead of the event, Iran's chief negotiator appealed for a larger number of people to attend and said it would not be a way to avenge Khamenei's death.
