Iran-US Peace Deal Reached; Israel-Hezbollah Ceasefire Agreed Upon

On Friday, June 19, a peace deal was finally sealed between Iran and the United States, ending a long-standing dispute. At 4 p.m., a senior U.S. official quoted by Reuters news agency reported that Israel and Hezbollah had also agreed to a ceasefire. Earlier in the day, Hezbollah issued a statement saying that Israel has never fully adhered to any ceasefire agreement. Hezbollah alleged that Israeli forces were attempting to advance towards the Ali al-Taher hill in southern Lebanon, which Hezbollah fighters fought back. Israeli forces then targeted safe villages and civilian areas. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern warning. He said that Hezbollah would pay a "very heavy price" for violating the ceasefire. After a high-level meeting with the defense minister and the army chief, the leader ordered the Israeli military to strike Hezbollah again. This came after a tense regional security situation.
