Iran-US Peace Talks Near Conclusion as Funeral Arrangements Announced for Late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

Iran and the United States are still at war. Air strikes have been taking place on both sides. The Strait of Hormuz has been closed for several months. However, today is the final seal of peace talks between the two countries. The long-standing war may be coming to an end. Meanwhile, Iranian officials have announced the dates for the farewell ceremony, procession, and funeral of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. According to Iran's Fars News Agency, the final farewell ceremony for the late Khamenei will be held on 4 and 5 July at the Imam Khomeini prayer site in Tehran. Also, a procession will be held in Tehran on 6 July. It will be followed by ceremonies in the holy city of Qom on 7 July and in Mashhad on 9 July. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's body will be buried at the holy shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad. Iran's former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei died on 28 February 2026. Several other Iranian leaders, including the head of the United States, were killed in Iran's airstrike.
