Iran's Supreme Leader Appoints New Representative to Supreme National Security Council

Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei appointed former IRGC chief Mohsen Rezaei as his representative to the Supreme National Security Council. The appointment was revealed in a decree issued on Sunday. Rezaei replaced Mohammad Baqir Zolgadar. If there is a deal with the United States on Hormuz, the same council will approve the agreement. The account attributed to Mojtaba Khamenei wrote on X, "Dr. Mohsen Rezaei, given your valuable experience, I appoint you, one of the early commanders of the successful 8-year Sacred Defense, as my representative to the Supreme National Security Council." The position was previously held by Ali Larijani, who was assassinated in the US-Israeli attacks in March. The responsibility was then held by Mohammad Baqir Zolgadar. According to Al Jazeera, Rezaei is a former IRGC chief and a member of Iran's XDC Council, which resolves disagreements. Rezaei is also a member of the Guardian Council.
