Israel Expands Military Activity in Lebanon Amid Calls for Ceasefire

Israel's Channel 12 News reported that the move came after the United States approved Israel's requests to expand military activity in Lebanon, including airstrikes in the capital city, rather than an initial focus on the south of the country. Meanwhile, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said on Sunday that Hezbollah is committed to a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire. He called for efforts to force Israel to halt its military operations. This was reported by Lebanon's national news agency. Berri said that the conflict "is not in a stand of resistance over the ceasefire," but in the continuation of Israeli military operations in Lebanon, which have led to the displacement of thousands of Lebanese civilians. At the same time, villages and homes in various areas are being demolished. He further said that any effort to de-escalate the conflict requires real guarantees, which is to force Israel to stop its entry into the southern areas of Wadi al-Salouki and Al-Salaf.
