Prime Minister of Japan, Sane Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday (1 July 2026) evening on an official visit. PM Modi welcomed Sane Takaichi to India and said that his visit will further strengthen the partnership between the two countries. PM Modi posted on X, "Warm welcome to Prime Minister Sane Takaichi to India. We are very pleased to host you on your first visit to India. I look forward to our meeting tomorrow, which will further strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership. We will continue to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific and beyond through our joint efforts. This is Takaichi's three-day visit. This is his first visit to India after becoming Prime Minister. Sane Takaichi is also scheduled to hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his three-day visit to India. The two leaders will attend the 16th India-Japan Annual Defence Supply Chain, Trade, AI, and Security Summit.
