Japan's Defense Chief Visits India Amid Tensions with Russia Over Kuril Islands and BRICS Summit

In the midst of fresh tensions with Russia following Vladimir Putin's visit to the disputed Kuril Islands and the BRICS summit in Delhi next month, Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi is visiting India soon. Shinjiro himself has announced this and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has confirmed it. Shinjiro wished Rajnath Singh on India's 80th Independence Day (August 15) and said, "I am coming to India soon." To this, Rajnath Singh wrote on his X-account, "I welcome you to deepen the defense partnership between India and Japan." Japan's Defense Minister Shinjiro's visit to India is considered important in this sense, because Tokyo's relations with Russia have deteriorated significantly in the last 15-20 days. Behind it is Japan's White Paper, which feared a situation like the war in Ukraine in the Pacific Ocean. Considering the threat to Russia-Ukraine, the White Paper said that "I am coming to India soon."
