A major case of cyber fraud has come to light in Kanpur. Here a woman contacted an elderly man through Facebook and started a conversation on the pretext of help. After this, a total of ₹1.24 crore was swindled from the elderly man on the pretext of giving good returns in the investment. Police have registered a case in the matter and started investigation. The victim is a 72-year-old retired second engineer of the Merchant Navy and lives with his wife in Tilak Nagar area. He told the police in his complaint to the police station Kohna that in February 2026, some people contacted him through Facebook. After the conversation, he was assured of investing online and getting better returns in a short time. According to the complaint, the accused asked him to invest through the www.wieudgcx.cc and wowdgcx.vip website. After this, a total of ₹805 was transferred through 19 different transactions between 15 February 2026 and 13 April 2026. The victim told the website that she was shown the amount of money and profits.
