Karnataka FDA Takes Regulatory Action Against Spurious Drug Distributors and Retailers

In a major regulatory action following a large-scale investigation into spurious drugs, the Karnataka Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) has cancelled the licences of 16 pharmaceutical distributors and retailers and suspended the licences of eight others. The establishments that were raided were found to be involved in the distribution and sale of spurious drugs across the state. This regulatory action follows a raid conducted by the Drug Enforcement Wing of the Karnataka FDA on 18 August. During this raid, enforcement officials busted a clandestine, unlicensed repackaging and rebadging operation from a farmhouse in Kurubara Sindakeranahalli in Bidadi, South District, Bengaluru, that was procuring spurious drugs from neighbouring states.
