Kerala Election: Congress-Led UDF Alliance Takes Lead, Ruling LDF Trails

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 4: Kerala's political history is witnessing a turning point that the Left may not have imagined. The early trends of the counting of votes in God's Own Country Kerala, which began at 8 am today, have blown away the ruling LDF. 71 seats are needed for a majority in the 140-seat assembly, against which the Congress-led UDF alliance is leading with a strong lead of 58 seats. The biggest reversal is in Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's seat, where he is trailing by 2,000 votes at the end of three rounds, which is a major warning for the Left. This election is not just a battle for power, but a battle for the survival of the Left ideology. If the LDF loses in Kerala, it will be the first time since 1960 that there will be no Left government in any state in India. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will see the Congress breaking its seven-decade-old tradition.
