Throughout the day on Sunday, there were colourful processions in support of the candidates of the Left Front and allied parties in Hooghly district and intensive campaigning in villages and towns. The focus of the day was on the campaign of the CPI (M) candidate for the Uparpara constituency, Meenakshi Mukherjee. The colourful campaign march started from Konnagar Batar Mor GT Road at 10 am. The march was preceded by the playing of Dhakis by 10 people, followed by 150 students wearing Lal Genji, inscribed with the words "Hail CPI (M) candidate Meenakshi Mukherjee," and marching with red caps on their heads and red flags and balloons in their hands. The procession included party's Hooghly district secretary Debabrata Ghosh, Srutinath Praharaj, Abhijit Chakraborty, Badsha Das and Ashish Dey among others. The procession was accompanied by banners, balloons and red flags. Around 500 people were present. The march started from Batar Morh and passed through Konnagar Road station and ended at 6 pm. The procession was accompanied by a large number of women standing on the left hand side of the road.
