New Delhi: A major milestone in the Union Budget process has been achieved today. After a lengthy debate and discussion, the Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the'Finance Bill 2026'with 32 government amendments. With this, the budget proposals for the financial year 2026-27 have been approved by the Lower House. The bill will now be sent to the Rajya Sabha, from where the rules and provisions of the new budget will be fully implemented from April 1. Introduced by the Minister of Statistics and Fiscal Targeting, Nirmala Sitharaman, the budget estimates a total expenditure of 53.47 lakh crore, which is 7.85% more than last year. The government's main focus is on reducing the fiscal deficit. The deficit is estimated to be 4.3% of GDP for the financial year 2027. A capital outlay of ₹1.22 lakh crore has been allocated for infrastructure development, which will help create jobs and modern facilities in the country.
