Lok Sabha Passes Vande Mataram Bill Amid Uproar and Opposition

The Rajya Sabha had already passed this bill. Meanwhile, Kanimozhi of the DMK said that today the singing of'Vande Mataram'in government programs has made it a criminal offense. Kanimozhi said, many states, including Tamil Nadu, have their own state song and for more than 50 years it has been sung first as the state song. Today, the songs of many states will be pushed to the third place. Kanimozhi said that this hurts the feelings of the people of our states. Moreover, the great poet of the country Rabindranath Tagore also believed that only two verses should be sung before the song, against the interests of the country.
