Lok Sabha Revokes Suspension of 8 Opposition MPs After All-Party Meeting

Lok Sabha Suspension Revoked: The Lok Sabha witnessed a significant political development on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, when the suspension of 8 MPs from opposition parties was revoked. The decision was taken following a consensus reached at an all-party meeting called by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, which is being seen as a major step towards smooth functioning of Parliament. Among the MPs who got relief from suspension are 7 from Congress - Manickam Tagore, Amrendra Singh Raja Warring, Gurjit Singh Aujla, Hibi Eden, Dean Kuriakose, Prashant Padole and Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy. Also on the list is S. Venkatesan (CPI-M). These MPs were suspended for the entire session on 3 February 2026 on charges of creating ruckus and disorderly conduct during the first phase of the Budget Session. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "The suspension of 8 MPs under Article 370 was proposed by Rahul Gandhi during the session."
