Lok Sabha Witnesses Noisy Scenes Over LPG Prices and Misidentification of MP District

Neemuch: The Lok Sabha on Friday witnessed noisy scenes and heated exchanges during a discussion on supplementary demands for grants. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took a strong stand on the protest by the opposition over LPG cylinder prices. She even called the sloganeering opposition members shameless and alleged that they were trying to suppress her voice by creating noise. Earlier, a strange situation arose when she referred to Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh as a district of Rajasthan. Neemuch district in MP also borders Rajasthan. Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh is among the select areas of the country where poppy cultivation is completely legal. However, its rules are as strict as it is free. The Narcotics Department of the Government of India regulates the cultivation of poppy here for scientific and medicinal purposes. Neemuch is not only the leader in opium production, but also the home to one of the country's largest government opium factories. The Finance Minister raised a hue and cry in Parliament over the protest.
