Nagarmal Bajoria alias'Dharti Pakhad ', a resident of Bhagalpur, Bihar, who contested more than 280 elections from Panchayat to the President's post, passed away. He breathed his last on 3rd September in Patna at the age of 96. Though he was defeated by rivals every time in the electoral field, he never considered it a defeat of his heart. He remained motivated to contest elections till the last stage of his life. He will be cremated at the crematorium in Barari, Bhagalpur on Friday. Nagarmal Bajoria contested against many big political faces during his long electoral journey. He first filed his nomination papers against former President VV Giri in 1969. He contested against former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from Rae Bareli and against Rajiv Gandhi from Amethi. After contesting these elections, he made headlines all over the country. In 2012, Nagarmal Bajoria had also contested the presidential election against Pranab Mukherjee. He had filed his nomination papers for the post of President from the village panchayat in Bhagalpur and for the post of President of Pakistan from the year 1930.
