Madhya Pradesh By-Elections: BJP Denies Ticket to Narottam Mishra, Supporters Protest

In Madhya Pradesh, by-elections are being held for the Datia assembly seat. In these by-elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied ticket to Narottam Mishra, once the number two in the Madhya Pradesh government. The BJP has replaced Narottam with another Brahmin face, Ashutosh Tiwari. After the party announced this, Narottam Mishra's supporters broke out. After being denied ticket in Datia by-election, Narottam's supporters went on a violent protest. Talks also started about Narottam contesting as an independent. The Shiv Sena (UBT) even offered to contest the elections on a torch, Uddhav Thackeray will come to campaign. Amid the confusion for the last two days, Narottam Mishra's voice seems to be softening. Narottam Mishra met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Madhya Pradesh BJP President Hemant Khandelwal and Regional Organization General Secretary Ajay Jamwal on Saturday. After the announcement of Narottam Mishra's nomination, Ashish Mishra said that he will join the BJP.
