Madhya Pradesh's Sagar District Hit by Illicit Liquor Consumption Deaths; Political Activism Ensues

In Madhya Pradesh, after the deaths due to suspected illicit liquor consumption in the Banda-Shahgarh area of Sagar district, both politics and administrative activism were seen in full swing on Monday. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister in charge of Sagar district Rajendra Shukla visited the affected villages and met the families of the deceased and sick people. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Jitu Patwari also reached the affected areas and shared the pain of the affected families and made serious allegations against the government. At present, about 100 liquor victims are admitted in hospitals in Sagar and Banda. The government data says that 11 have died. While unconfirmed reports say that 22 people have died after drinking poisonous liquor. Half a dozen villages of Banda are in mourning. The police have registered FIRs against 30 people in two cases so far. Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla visited the affected areas including Bamura Bhera, Nauraj, Gugra Khurd, Dhurmar, Chowka, Hanouti and Papet of Banda and Shahgarh tehsil.
