Gadchiroli: The work on Gadchiroli Airport, one of the ambitious projects of Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of the district Devendra Fadnavis, is now set to gain momentum. The state government on 12 May gave administrative and financial approval for the acquisition of the planned airport land at a cost of ₹104.48 lakh 64,239. A total of 311.81 hectares of land in the four villages of Shirpur Chak, Guruvala, Hirapur, and Rakhi will be acquired for the project to be implemented by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC). This includes government, private, and forest department lands. The empowered committee headed by the Chief Secretary of the state had given the green signal to the proposal on 8 May. The planning of the fund will be transferred to the District Development Authority of Dharwad.
