The issue of analogue cheese and analogue cheese was hotly debated in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. BJP MLA Vikram Pachpute demanded a ban on the sale of analogue cheese and cheese in the state. He said that real cheese and cheese are made from milk, while analogue products are made from vegetable oil and other substitutes, which are being sold in the name of cheese and cheese to confuse consumers. Pachpute told the House that he had raised the issue in the March 2025 budget session as well and demanded that hotels and restaurants must clearly state in their menus that they are using analogue cheese or cheese. But now hoteliers are claiming that they do not sell such products while the market continues to sell them. He said that until the capacity of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) laboratories increases and the monitoring system is strengthened, these products should be banned. NCP leader Ajit Pawar and NCP MLA Sanap Malik said that the party's ally in the government had been continuously raising the issue of adulteration.
