Manipur Police, in coordination with central security forces, arrested two insurgents linked to different banned outfits and busted a militant camp during a series of operations carried out across the valley districts of the state, officials said on Tuesday. In an operation, security personnel arrested an active cadre of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Ibungo Ngangomba faction) from the Kakching Khunou Lamkhai area along the Indo-Myanmar Sugnu Road under Waikhong Police Station in Kakching district. The arrested cadre was identified as Laishram Anil (34), alias Chara Singh, a resident of Changangei Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district. A mobile phone and a Hyundai i20 vehicle bearing registration number MN01AX-9290 were seized from his possession. In a separate operation linked to a case registered at Singjamei Police Station, security forces arrested an active member of the banned Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) from Imphal East district. The insurgent, identified as Maibam Romio Singh (52), alias Ronald, was apprehended from his residence at Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai Mongkhang Lambi. Police recovered a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card during the operation. Security forces also dismantled a militant camp in the Leishangthem Ikop Pat area under Thoubal Police Station. During the search operation, personnel recovered one sub-machine gun carbine with a magazine, four bolt-action rifles, one 9 mm pistol with a magazine, and three live rounds of ammunition. Police said further investigation is underway.
