Meta Faces Parliamentary Heat Over Removed PM Video

The dispute that started between Meta and the Indian government seems to be getting more serious. The matter of removing a Facebook video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for some time has now reached the Standing Committee of Parliament. The committee has asked Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg to personally apologize within three days. The committee has also warned that if this does not happen, strict action can be recommended against the company. The whole controversy started at the end of July. A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped appearing on Facebook for some time. In the video, the Prime Minister was talking about the issue of students and paper leaks. After some time Meta restored the video and said that it was a technical error. The company also expressed regret. But the government did not seem fully satisfied with this answer. I am now the Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology of Parliament. The committee's chairman Nishikant Dubey said that only a general apology from the company has not been given. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself has demanded an apology for this matter.
