: Mizoram Power Minister F Rodingliana has been appointed chairman of the Northeastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC), becoming the first minister from the state to occupy the position, officials said. The Ministry of Power issued the appointment order on Monday. The NERPC functions under the ministry and was constituted under the Electricity Act, 2003, with all seven northeastern states as members. Rodingliana, who is currently in New Delhi, attended the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit and Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. On Tuesday, the minister met representatives of the New Development Bank (NDB), also known as the BRICS Bank, at Mizoram House in New Delhi to discuss financial support for the proposed Tuivai Hydropower Project. The NDB representatives indicated that the project could be considered for funding but said the proposal would need to be routed through the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA). Further discussions are expected following consultations with the department, officials said.
