Modi's Independence Day Speeches Reflect India's Changing Priorities and Ambitions

The development journey of a country can be understood from the priorities of its political leadership, apart from data and plans. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech is an interesting document in this regard. Taken together, the speeches of the past decade paint a picture of India's changing needs and growing ambitions. Around 2014, the speeches focused on toilets, electricity, roads, bank accounts, poverty, and farmers'problems. These were the basic needs whose scarcity directly affected the lives of ordinary people.
