Mundhe Appointed FDA Commissioner Amid Controversies

Lokmat News Network Mumbai: Senior civil servant Tukaram Mundhe's wait for posting ended on Tuesday. He has been appointed Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration. This is his 25th transfer in the last 21 years. Mundhe is a secretary rank officer, but he has been appointed as a commissioner. Mundhe is said to have been sent to clean up the Food and Drug Administration department, which has always been controversial for various reasons, although he has been demoted. One would also be curious about his relationship with Food and Drug Administration Minister Narhari Zirwal. Zirwal was embroiled in controversies, from bribery in the minister's office to the alleged videography of the minister. Mundhe was appointed as Secretary, Disaster Management Department last April. However, the transfer was put on hold immediately. Since then, he has been waiting for appointment. The state government has also transferred three other IAS officers and given additional charge to two officers. Sanjay Khandare, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education, and R S Chavan, Additional Secretary, Labour Department, has been given additional charge of Medical Insurance.
