The cost of construction of these projects was high and many facilities were taking five to six years to complete. Moreover, the councillors were constantly following up on which facilities should be built on these sites. However, the cost of the facilities and the rent charged on these facilities over the years have left many of these facilities unused. In some places, these spaces have been given to social organizations under joint projects. As a result, the facilities built at a cost of crores of rupees have become a financial burden for the municipal corporation. Against this background, about five years ago, the administration and the then incumbents proposed to develop'Amenity Space'on a PPP basis. However, this plan could not be implemented due to opposition as the 2008 land allocation rules do not allow such development. Now, a change in the rules in 2023 has paved the way for development on a PPP basis. According to which facilities should be developed according to the nature of each site, the project will be implemented with the help of planning consultants.
