The nomination papers of Parimal Nathwani, an independent candidate supported by the BJP, for the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand have been found to be valid. Amid the ongoing political controversy over the nomination of Parimal Nathwani, the Returning Officer on Wednesday announced that his documents have been found to be "correct." The announcement came at a time when the Congress is protesting in Ranchi demanding the cancellation of the nomination of Nathwani, a Rajya Sabha member from Andhra Pradesh and an industrialist. Returning Officer Ranjit Kumar said in his order, "The nomination papers of Parimal Nathwani have been found valid and are accepted under Section-36 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951." Nathwani had filed his nomination papers as the third candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections in Jharkhand on Monday. Elections are to be held for two Rajya Sabha seats in the state. Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Baidyanath Ram and Congress candidate Pranav Jha had already filed their nominations and were found to be correct during scrutiny on Tuesday.
