Nepal's former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba returned to Kathmandu on Thursday after undergoing treatment abroad for nearly six months following an assault on him. Deuba, 80, was given a rousing welcome by party leaders and activists at Tribhuvan International Airport. He was also welcomed with musical bands and cultural programmes. Nepali Congress workers from across the country had arrived in Kathmandu to attend a national meeting of the party's non-establishment faction. A large number of these activists were also present at the airport to receive Deuba. Deuba had gone to Singapore for treatment along with his wife and former minister Arzoo Rana Deuba on February 25. However, he returned to Nepal alone on Thursday. Deuba, the president of the Nepali Congress, was injured during the Gen-Z movement in September last year. Deuba and his wife Arzoo Rana Deuba suffered serious head injuries during this time. Both of them had gone to Hong Kong for treatment.
