Nepal's Hindu Organizations Push for Establishment of Hindu Rashtra

Several organizations, including the Vishwa Hindu Parishad of Nepal and the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, are also in support of a Hindu Rashtra. According to Krishna Pandey, the chairperson of the Matrishakti Department of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad Nepal, several suggestions were made to the government in May 2026, including the restoration of a Vedic Sanatan Hindu Rashtra, and meetings were held at the ministerial level in Kathmandu. Nepal was a Hindu monarchy for about 240 years, from 1768 to 2008. It was declared secular in the Interim Constitution of 2007 and declared a republic on 28 May 2008, ending the monarchy.
