KATHMANDU: The voting process for the election of members of the House of Representatives (the lower house of the parliament) has been completed in Nepal today in a peaceful atmosphere across the country. Long queues of voters were seen at the polling stations since 7 am. Senior citizens, pregnant women, and people with disabilities also exercised their franchise with amazing enthusiasm. Ballot boxes were sealed in the presence of security personnel as soon as the voting ended at 5 pm. Sporadic disputes and general friction occurred in some districts like Dolakha, Sarlahi, and Rautahat during the election, but the administration acted swiftly and resolved the matter. Moreover, the voting process went on smoothly throughout the country. In the eyes of statistics, this election of Nepal is very important not only for domestic politics, but also in terms of relations with neighboring countries including India. In this election fought under the'First-Past-the-Post'system, 65 political parties have decided their fate.
