Mumbai: Jishnu Dev Varma has been formally sworn in as the new Governor of Maharashtra today at the historic Lok Bhawan in the financial capital Mumbai. He took oath as the Governor of the state in a grand ceremony. Present on the occasion were many veteran leaders and administrative officials of Maharashtra including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. He has been traditionally received with a guard of honour. Jishnu Dev Varma is a tall leader from North-East India. He belongs to the royal family of Tripura and is considered one of the senior-most leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He was born on 15 August 1957 in Agartala. He has also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura with extensive experience in the field of finance, tourism and rural development.
