Nine-Year Wait for Bridge Overflows into Suffering: Chakulia's Titia River Crisis

Mohammad Ashraful Haque, Chakulia: As soon as the election bell rings, political businessmen cut their promises. But as soon as the vote is cast, all those promises are washed away by the river. Thousands of people of Bhuindhar and Ghordhappa areas of Chakulia have been waiting for a bridge issue on the Titia River for nine long years. The mountain of assurances given by the leaders has accumulated. But even today their sufferings have not been resolved. The Titia River has overflowed in the heart of Bhuindhar and Ghordhappa areas of Chakulia (Chakulia) Gram Panchayat. A culvert was built on the river during the Left era. This made communication easier for the people of Binardah, Satiara, Nizampur, Belbari, Kahata, etc. Farmers could take their crops to the market, students regularly went to school. But the devastating floods of 2017 collapsed that culvert. Even after nine years, no new bridge was built there. The residents of Bhuindhar had to risk their lives by crossing the river.
