In a sudden turn of events, on the day of Dhule, there were reports that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha. On the last day of filing his nomination on 5 March, Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The voting for the Rajya Sabha elections will be held on 16 March and the results will be announced the same evening. Nitish Kumar will resign as the Chief Minister after that. On the day of filing the nomination, Nitish Kumar's son has accepted the membership of the Janata Dal (United).
