Patna, તા.24: Nitish Kumar, known as the Chanakya of Bihar politics, has been re-elected unopposed as the national president of the Janata Dal (United). Returning Officer Anil Prasad Hegde officially announced his name on Tuesday as no other candidate had filed his nomination papers by 11 am. Nitish Kumar, who recently quit as chief minister and moved to the Rajya Sabha, will now focus entirely on strengthening the party at the national level. He will be given the certificate of election in the presence of veteran leaders like Lallan Singh and Sanjay Jha at 2.30 pm. This comes at a time when the JD (U) is firmly associated with the NDA alliance. Notably, Nitish Kumar took over after Lallan Singh resigned in December 2023 and then formed a new alliance with the BJP in Bihar. Now that he himself is becoming active in Delhi politics, he has again accepted the post of president to retain his hold over the party. This decision makes it clear that even if the power equation changes, Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar's entry into the Rajya Sabha will be the most surprising decision for Nitish Kumar.
