Assam Man and Two Minors Arrested for Raping Woman from Assam

Madurai: A 27-year-old man and two minor boys from Assam have been arrested in Tuticorin district on charges of raping a woman from the state in front of her husband after the couple decided to leave the job secured by the man.Police said Mohammed Makful Hussain, 27, who was residing in Thisaiyanvilai, offered jobs to the 24-year-old survivour from Assam and her husband at a paver block manufacturing unit at Arasakulam in Tuticorin district. The couple took up the jobs two months ago, but they were not satisfied with wages.The couple decided to leave the unit and got into an autorickshaw around 8pm on Sunday, police said. Hussain told the auto driver that the couple had stolen money from them and asked him to leave the spot. Hussain and the boys then took the couple to a secluded place, assaulted the husband, and raped the woman," said a police officer.Hussain then called the auto driver and put the couple in the vehicle. The couple reached Tirunelveli Junction and informed the railway police, who alerted the Tuticorin police. District superintendent of police Albert John formed a team to nab the accused. The team with the help of the auto driver lured Hussain and the boys and arrested them on the same night.Police booked them under sections 126(2) (punishment for wrongful restraint), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 324(4) (punishment for mischief causing property damage), 70 (gangrape), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of BNS.Hussain was remanded in judicial custody and the minors were lodged in an observation home in Tirunelveli district on Monday.
