Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday sought the support of the INDI Alliance allies to demand the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He appealed to the opposition parties to join the protest proposed by the National Conference during the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament. At the INDI Alliance meeting held in New Delhi today, Omar Abdullah said that the National Conference has decided to launch a massive agitation for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. According to sources, Omar Abdullah said that the demand for the restoration of statehood is not just a political issue but a matter of democratic aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the leaders of various opposition parties to show solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and participate in the protest to be organised in the national capital. Sources said that the Chief Minister also said that the National Conference would soon contact the opposition parties and their leaders to formally ensure their participation in the agitation through the recent monsoon session of Parliament.
