One Vote Makes All the Difference: Tiruppattur Election Sets New Record

What is the value of every vote in a democracy. The best example of this is the Tiruppattur assembly seat in Tamil Nadu. Here only one person's vote changed the whole game. DMK minister KR Periyakaruppan lost the election from Tiruppattur seat by a margin of just one vote. This proves that every vote has its own importance in a democracy. Only one vote changes the political picture. Tamil Nadu's Cooperation Minister Periyakaruppan was defeated by TVK candidate Seenivas Sethupathi by just one vote. When the counting of votes was completed, Periyakaruppan was just one step behind Seenivas. Seenivas got 83375 votes while Periyakaruppan came second with 83374 votes. BJP's Thirumaran KC came third. He got 29054 votes. Due to a very small margin, this contest has become one of the closest contests in recent electoral history. In all the recent elections, there has been no such incidents, and Periyakaruppan, the Tamil Nadu minister, has just one surprise result.
