On Thursday, the opposition intensified its protest against the central government over the NEET paper leak and the alleged lathi-charge on students. Leader of Opposition and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi reached Gandhi Smriti with a copy of the Constitution in hand from the bus with leaders of opposition parties. He was accompanied by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Reaching Gandhi Smriti, Rahul Gandhi said, "This is where our leader Mahatma Gandhi was killed. Today the Modi government is killing democracy in India. Students are being tortured and beaten. The opposition will not accept this. We are with the students and Prime Minister Narendra Modi should apologise to the country by removing Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan." Priyanka Gandhi also targeted the central government, saying, "We are ending democracy in our own country. Children are being beaten up. Students are only seeking justice, but they are being ill-treated. Lathicharge on students demanding their rights is completely wrong."
